Financial Counselor
Hours: 12 pm - 4 pm Monday - Saturday
Understands the role of the Financial Counselor to be a friendly, helpful provider of additional service to exiting patients, to ensure patient understanding of the financial aspects of care and availability of assistance.
Greets and converses with designated patients at the completion of care, after dismissal is ordered and patient is ready to exit premises.
Demonstrates knowledge and application of the Commitments, using Compassion when serving Alegent patients by any means, treating patients and visitors with dignity and respect, is responsive to the needs of Alegent and non-Alegent personnel, embraces responsibility and accountability for actions and behavior, works well with others and practices teamwork, and exhibits integrity by being honest and straightforward.
Receives and protects any patients payer enrollment cards or photo ID cards provided by patient at time of quick reg or bedside registration for scanning and benefits/eligibility verification, delivered to ED Dismissal Counselor by Registration staff member.
Returns any payer enrollment cards or photo ID cards given by patient at the time of quick reg or bedside registration for scanning and benefits/eligibility verification to the patient at the time of dismissal.
Education and/or Licensure Required:
High School diploma.
Preferred:
Two to four years college education desirable;
Bachelors Degree preferred.
Experience Preferred:
Demonstrated skills in customer service, patient accounting and hospital operations.
Previous experience and knowledge of patient accounting, customer service, and hospital operations required.
Superior computer skills and exceptional phone skills.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Excellent communication skills, pleasant demeanor, demonstrated patience and caring attitude.
Professional appearance and personable presentation.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Fluent medical terminology.
Demonstrated accurate and speedy keyboarding skills.
Ability to operate a computer terminal and multi-line telephone.
Job requires continuous reading skills, exquisite verbal communication skills and written communication skills.
