RN House Coordinator

Magnet Hospital

Provides support, interacts, and serves as a clinical resource to hospital staff. Maintains clinical competency. Assists staff in performing complex clinical procedures. Functions as a resource for policy and procedure interpretation. Utilizes age appropriate patient care interventions.

Identifies high-risk situations and responds to decrease the risk exposure to patient, family members, staff, and organization. Follows approved procedure for notification of appropriate departments and individuals involving risk management issues. Assumes administrative responsibilities as defined by policy in the absence of Administration.

Participates in intra- and inter-disciplinary process and performance quality improvement activities.

Monitors clinical standards of nursing practice. Takes actions as appropriate to facilitate the provision of safe and therapeutically effective nursing care.

Provides support to patient care area staff in determining staffing needs. Allocates float pool resources when needed to meet staffing needs during scheduled shift. Collaborates with the Operations Directors and patient care area staff when complex staffing issues arise.

Experience

A minimum of 3 years of progressive management/leadership/supervisory experience in acute care nursing.

Education/Licensure

Minimum of Bachelors Degree in nursing field or business administration is required.

Completion of a Registered Nurse program in an accredited institution required.

Must have a Current Registered Nurse License in Nebraska or Iowa, Nebraska and Iowa are compact states, so license must be held in the state of your residence.

BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire.

Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say Professional Level-with AED, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

ACLS or ACLS instructor certification is required within 6 months.

Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Heart Association: Advanced Cardiac Life Support, American Safety and Health Institute: ACLS, American College of Surgeons: ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) and American College of Emergency Physician: ACLS

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Must possess strong knowledge of medical/surgical, specialty nursing as appropriate, and nursing administration; strong knowledge of applicable management skills; good communication skills; good conflict resolution skills; good strategic planning skills; strong change management skills; strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; must demonstrate personal traits of a high level of motivation; team orientation; professionalism; trust; self-awareness; and place a high value of treating others with dignity and respect.
