Position Description

U.S. Xpress is currently seeking a Legal Analyst.

Position Purpose

Provides assistance in preparing legal documents.  Prepares drafts of contracts involving leases, licenses, purchases, sales, insurance and related matters.  Assists attorney in handling all special projects. Research all pertinent legal matters.  

 

Job Functions

     Review all legal documents by ensuring that all standard provisions are incorporated.   

     Analyze and record legal documents to locate trends or inaccuracies

     Centralize and organize all legal documents.

     Verify that all involved parties are in agreement on the conditions of established agreements.

     Compile reports on status of all legal agreements.   

     Prepare various legal documents as needed by senior management.

     Prepare depositions for litigation. 

     Submits weekly reports to senior management on status of open projects and any issues related.

     Research legal issues as they arise.

     Performs special legal projects for senior management and corporate officers.

     Maintains an accurate filing system for all legal documents, research materials and any litigation paperwork.

     Maintains awareness of current laws and regulations pertinent to the trucking industry.

     May involve some reporting and renewing of SCAC codes.

     May include other duties as assigned by Management.

 

Key Knowledge and Experience

     2-5 years experience as a legal assistant.

     Experience in a law firm with litigation strongly preferred.

     Certified Legal Assistant or Certified Paralegal preferred.

     Expertise in organizing legal files.

     Proficient in word processing or other software programs necessary to perform job function.

     Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint. 

     Superior communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; strong problem-solving and innovative-thinking skills.
