Responsible for the protection of life and property by deterring criminal activity within the community; enforcing laws and ordinances; establishing positive relations with citizens of the community; and performing investigations, special details, and specific assignments as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED (college coursework and/or active duty military experience is perferred).
- Must be a U.S. citizen, honorably discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces (if applicable), and at least 21 and not over 39 years of age.
- Must pass a comprehensive background investigation, a written examination and physical ability test, and successfully clear psychological and physical examinations upon employment.
- Must submit to a polygraph examination, possess a valid driver’s license, have not been convicted of or pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances, and meet any other standards as set forth in Tennessee Code Annotated 38-8-106.
