ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/COMPETENCIES
Provides basic age appropriate nursing care based on the Physician Plan of
Treatment and the nursing process under the direct supervision of the RN to
include
changing, toileting, feeding, obtaining vitals and supervision.
- Collects assessment data with the input of the patient/family as directed by the RN or Teacher and communicates changes appropriately.
- Demonstrates knowledge of age specific or developmental milestones for infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent and assists with educational activities and supervision under the direction of Teacher/RN.
- Responds appropriately in crisis situations or life-threatening emergencies.
- Performs and carries out cares and treatments under the direction of an RN according physician orders, company policies and procedures.
- Completes delegated tasks in an appropriate time frame, based on patent needs, such as vital signs, intake/outputs, height/weight/head circumference measurements, ADL’s, preparing for patients arrival and leaving and assisting RN as needed. Documentation reflects patient care provided.
- Completes all required documentation and reporting in accurate and timely manner on proper forms, according to internal and external regulatory requirements.
- Entries in medical record follow company policy such as correct date, time, use of appropriate, company approved abbreviations, etc Maintains environment of care for patient and center.
- Assists in maintaining clean environment which includes the following duties: vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, wash toys, laundry, dishes, trash, c cleaning of equipment, beds, high chairs and other daily clean-up duties as assigned.
- Assists in maintaining a safe environment by ensuring that hall ways are kept free of clutter/obstructions, toys are in good working order, remove torn or broken items, refrigerator temperatures are set at correct temperature, necessary supplies are available for required cares/duties.
- Performs clerical and front desk duties as needed.
- Utilizes professional etiquette in answering , screening and directing phone calls.
- Takes initiative to greet, assist, and guide families and visitors in a pleasant and professional manner.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS/COMPETENCIES
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must possess a current valid Nebraska CNA license/certificate
- Must be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support
- Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure, and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritizing skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience with pediatric patients preferred.
- Experience in the home care environment preferred.
