Our client is seeking a Billing Operations Manager to join their team. The selected individual will oversee billing operations, serves as the primary point of contact with outsourced providers, and supervise staff to ensure compliance, efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals. The Billing Operations Manager will also this provide financial analysis, integrate billing systems, oversee the agency’s credentialing processes, and support data-driven decision-making.
Job Duties

  • Monitor the outsourced billing provider’s adherence to contractual terms and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure billing accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) to reflect regulatory changes and best practices.
  • Supervise and provide training, guidance, and performance coaching to direct reports responsible for billing coordination and credentialing.
  • Develop and implement a succession plan for critical roles within the billing team.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment to empower team members.
  • Generate and present regular reports on billing performance, including metrics like payment timelines, claim accuracy rates, and compliance benchmarks.
  • Provide data-driven insights to support strategic planning and revenue cycle optimization.
  • Provide support for regional fee for service monthly billing and fee agreement reports.
  • Assist in integrating billing systems with the data warehouse to streamline revenue tracking and financial reporting.
  • Support agency-wide analytics to monitor program performance, client outcomes, and service delivery effectiveness.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for billing and credentialing procedures, updates, and escalated issues.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and the outsourced billing provider to identify and implement solutions for billing discrepancies or inefficiencies.
  • Provide education to leadership on maximizing revenue in an ethical and effective manner.
  • Regularly meet with leadership to review billing performance, identify areas for improvement, and propose actionable recommendations.
  • Participate in Performance & Quality Improvement (PQI) activities as assigned.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage third-party contracts and vendor relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Awareness and sensitivity of the constituents and populations served by employees.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, and promptness for work.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, or related field is required. Commensurate experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Three to five years of billing experience in a patient care environment is required.
  • Experience with third-party healthcare payers, accounts receivable (AR), credentialing, coding, and collections.
  • Leadership and/or supervision experience is preferred.
  • Billing experience in a non-profit environment preferred.
