General Summary: The Security Infrastructure Network Specialist is responsible for the oversight, day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the District's physical campus security system, including access control, IP cameras, and intrusion detection systems. This role will work closely with District staff, third-party vendors, and central monitoring services to ensure the safety and security of the District's facilities. Strong project management skills, ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to build relationships are essential components to the job.

Essential Functions:

  1. Manages the District’s physical campus security technology systems, including access control, IP security cameras, and intrusion detection alarm systems.
  2. Works collaboratively with third-party vendors, hardware manufacturers, and software developers to maintain, upgrade, and operate the campus security systems with the highest degree of efficacy.
  3. Recommends and plans for any changes, upgrades or enhancements to campus security systems.
  4. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders throughout the District regarding policy, parameters, and operations of the campus security systems.
  5. Coordinates with the Student Services team and the Executive Director of Student Services and School Safety to fulfill the mission and direction of the District’s school safety program.
  6. Monitors and as necessary responds to alarm events, ensuring the proper operation of campus security apparatuses. Coordinate with central monitoring services to ensure timely response to alarms and incidents.
  7. Works with District Technology Leadership, Human Resources Department Leadership, and Projects Team to review, recommend, and implement necessary changes to existing and proposed building staff-access control, automatic door operator, camera, and intrusion detection systems.
  8. Understanding of and able to work with central station monitoring and private security contractors.
  9. Manage cardholder access levels, requests, and permissions, ensure compliance with District policies and procedures, and collaborate with cross-functional District teams regarding access control.
  10. Generate reports on security system activity, incidents, and maintenance.
  11. Provide communication, resources, and training to District staff on security system usage and procedures.
  12. Serves as District liaison to security vendors and contract service providers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: obtaining quotes; creating, prioritizing and scheduling service tickets; and invoicing.
  13. This position may require on-call availability to respond to alarms or emergencies.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Technology and or his/her designee.
