Oversees operations and develops assigned staff.

Hiring Bonus: $2500

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Oversees I&A operations.

  • Receives referral calls and makes appropriate recommendations to supervisor for placement.

  • Oversees proper implementation of Model while providing consultation, supervision and feedback. Provides staff and program training.

  • Ensures effective use of Boys Town Model including individualized motivation system, self-government, and problem solving techniques.

  • Observes Youth Care Workers and gives feedback; provides consultation.

  • Prepares Staff Development Plans.

  • Conducts shift transition meetings, service planning meetings and other meetings as scheduled.

  • Ensures compliance with state, local, grant, contract, or licensure requirements.

  • Interacts with external agencies and parents regarding an individual youth's progress.

  • May be trained to become a certified Common Sense Parenting Instructor and as a certified instructor may be asked to conduct Common Sense Parenting (CSP) Courses at designated locations as assigned.

  • Utilizes Boys Town vehicle to transport youth to and from school, appointments, and outings as needed.

  • Monitors environment and ensures safe and secure conditions for youth.

  • Ensures safety in accordance with policies and procedures including youth safety, outings, and reporting guidelines.

Participates in the supervision of youth.

  • Manages Service Planning of individual youth overseeing admission and departure.

  • Teaches and monitors behaviors and skills according to individualized service plans.

  • Updates and closes files, conducts self-harm assessments, provides crisis interventions, and dispenses youth medications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with children, families, staff, and support agencies.

  • Demonstrated independent decision-making skills and competencies to work in crisis situations when circumstances warrant such action.

  • Necessary temperament to work with children and families experiencing crisis.

  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to make assessments and use sound judgment.

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and role modeling.

  • Proficient in use of Word, Excel, and e-mail.

  • Knowledge of consultation, training, evaluation, or administration.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • New Orleans: Bachelor's degree in human services or social sciences and 1 year of social services experience required.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience including working with children and families required.

  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record and pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check required.

  • On-call (continuously or rotationally) to provide support required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in Boys Town Model preferred.
