We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate PACU Registered Nurse to join our team. The PACU RN will be responsible for providing high-quality post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical procedures. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include monitoring patients vital signs, managing pain levels post-surgery, collaborating with the surgical team, educating patients and their families about post-operative care, maintaining accurate patient records, and responding promptly to any complications or emergencies. The ideal candidate will preferably have PACU, ER or ICU experience, excellent communication, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and strong organizational abilities. Schedule: Monday and Friday 7AM-7:30 PM
Tuesday and Wednesday 7AM-3:30 PM
Thursday Off

Hiring Bonus: $5,000.00

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • In collaboration with other members of the health care team, the nurse uses the nursing process to complete the physical, cognitive, spiritual and psychosocial assessment of patients before and after surgery.

  • Formulates plan of care and reviews and revises plan on an ongoing basis. Able to plan and give care based on the patient's age and level of development.

  • Assures appropriate information management and documentation using the nursing process in accordance with hospital OR policy; gives reports to other members of the health care team.

  • In collaboration with other members of the health care team, the nurse uses the nursing process to assess patient/family understanding and response to care provided; and patient/family educational needs. The nurse redirects care as needed.

  • Participates in/or prepares for in-services and patient care conference.

  • Maintains "The Joint Commission" standards on an ongoing basis and assists in unit responsibilities for readiness for Joint Commission visits.

  • Participates in department performance improvement activities.

  • Serves on hospital or system committees as assigned; maintains two-way communication between Surgery Center staff and assigned committee

  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to demonstrate clinical competence in providing safe, quality direct patient care and patient and family education as well as assisting the provider in the delivery of advanced care.

  • Ability to communicate concisely with patients, families and staff; collaborate with other members of the health care team to enhance care.

  • Ability to make nursing assessments and critically think.

  • Possesses detailed knowledge of the use and maintenance of a wide variety of critical care equipment and supplies.

  • Ability to complete patient documentation in a thorough, concise, accurate, and timely manner.

  • Ability to respond quickly and calmly to emergencies and stressful situations.

  • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered nurse who is a graduate of an accredited school with a current state license required.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in an acute hospital setting and pediatric experience required.

  • CPR (BLS) certification required.

  • ACLS certification within 6 months of transfer or hire required.

  • PALS certification within 6 months of transfer or hire required.

  • Prior working knowledge of using computer programs and electronic medical records required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.

  • OR/PACU/pre- and post- surgery experience preferred.

  • ICU or other intensive experience preferred.
