DEPARTMENT FUNCTION/JOB OVERVIEW

Responsible for the clinical supervision of the therapy clinical support staff to include completion of performance reviews, staff orientation, mentoring and coaching for the development of staff. Responsible for the coordination of therapy support services including provision and/or delegation of services to other Therapy support staff.  Responsible for coordination of training and development of the therapy support staff.  Work will be performed in an ethical and legal manner following organizational policies, processes, protocols and procedures. Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for Madonna as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the department and facility.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Coordinates, analyzes and compiles goals for the development of staff.
  2. Plans, coordinates and maintains current documentation for the education of staff.
  3. Maintains and updates clinical services manuals, including those for orientation and education.
  4. Analyzes, plans and implements ongoing quality improvement processes.
  5. Analyzes and makes recommendations for purchase of special equipment and supplies within budget guidelines that promote quality service delivery.
  6. Contributes to developing, writing and implementation of policies and procedures to promote consistency of operations.
  7. Compiles clinical service information and communicates to staff in a timely manner.
  8. Coordinates and maintains inventory of supplies and order new supplies as indicated.Produces accurate daily schedules for therapy support staff.
  9. Manages time off requests of the therapy support staff.
  10. Performs job duties of staff Rehabilitation Associate â?? Therapy.
  11. Responsible for supervision of therapy clinical support staff, including planning, coordination and scheduling of staff clinical service orientation and provide mentoring, discipline and instruction to new therapy clinical support staff to the rehabilitation program environment and operational policies and procedures.
  12. Participates and assist in professional and facility committee and/or task forces, as assigned.
  13. Provides ongoing supervision and evaluation of staff through competency assessment and performance reviews, as well as informal discussions and consultations.
  14. Communicates with patient, families and staff in a respectful manner to maintain a positive customer oriented approach and ensure quality service delivery.
  15. Communicates regularly and effectively with others in order to achieve identified goals and objectives of the Rehabilitation System and programs.
  16. Routinely meets with others to maintain open communication and ensure quality service delivery.
  17. Coordinates and/or instructs and teaches therapy support staff new information through in-services and educational offerings.
  18. Follows instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the division and facility.
  19. Must perceive customer relations as a primary focus, and continually strive to satisfy the needs of every customer in all areas of the work force.
  20. Maintains a clean, organized and safe environment and equipment.  Handles and operates all necessary equipment and performs required duties according to established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and prevent injury.
  21. Must be able to operate copier, telephone, fax machine and have proficient computer skills, including e-mail, word processing, presentation, spreadsheet functions and scheduling software.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

    Medium work with frequent lifting.  Moderate assist times 1 transfers for a patient of 250 pounds who is able to use his/her upper extremities for support routinely requires pulling/lifting force of approximately 50 pounds to be generated in order to complete a safe transfer. Requires sufficient strength to produce 50 pounds of force to push a wheelchair with a 300-pound individual on level surfaces. Constant walking with maximum duration of up 30 minutes sustained walking on tile, carpet and other surfaces. Must tolerate frequent standing with sustained periods of up to 1 hour on tile, carpet, and shower surfaces. Must tolerate frequent sitting with sustained periods of up to 1 hour.  Frequent reaching with both arms at low, waist, and high levels. Frequent grasping of both hands for transfers and repositioning requiring normal grip strength based on national averages. Frequent stooping, bending, and twisting are required for patient care. Constant near visual acuity to evaluate and monitor patients.  Ordinary hearing and speaking skills.  May be exposed to biohazardous materials.  May be exposed to patients who are in an agitated or aggressive state.
     

    QUALIFICATIONS (Education/training and/or Experience)

    Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant active on the Nebraska registry. Two years patient care experience required. Previous leadership/supervisory experience preferred.  Valid Nebraska driverâ??s license and proof of good driving record preferred.

    Background checking is conducted on applicants for this position with the agencies as required by Nebraska State regulations in addition to any other agencies as determined by Madonna.  Applicants must sign authorization forms (when required by the agency) to release information to Madonna.
