Position Summary |
TEMPORARY FULL-TIME This position performs duties in the Special Collections and Archives department of the Leon S. McGoogan Health Sciences Library that support artifact processing and oversight, archival collection processing, and coordination of moving collections from the College of Nursing Museum to the McGoogan Library. The position will also assist in exhibit preparation using these and other items for the Wigton Heritage Center and statewide college locations. Coordination and interviewing of CON faculty, staff, students, and alumni for the oral history program will be assigned as time allows. Coordination of moving stored collections includes working with the Special Collections faculty and staff and the College of Nursing faculty to create an inventory, box, and move all collections from the College of Nursing to the McGoogan Library. This also includes establishing intellectual control over the collection through linking of donor records and provenance to unmarked collections. Artifact processing and oversight includes working with the Special Collections Curator and student workers to create an artifact level inventory and creating catalog records with condition reports and photographs in the PastPerfect database. Archival collection processing includes working with the Archivist to arrange, organize, and preserve manuscript and records materials in all formats, research and write original finding aids for public research use in accordance with department and national standards, such as Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS), and develop and produce original records using ArchivesSpace, archival database. Exhibit preparation includes assisting with object selection, research, text writing, and editing of exhibition content for Omaha-based and satellite locations of exhibitions. Oral history coordination includes assisting in coordination of schedules, research, and question creation for interviewees, and facilitation of transcriptions and audits of completed interviews. |
